Michael Tarrence Penix Jr. (PENN-iks /ˈpɛnɪks/; born May 8, 2000) is an American football quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). After three seasons of college football with the Indiana Hoosiers, Penix transferred to the Washington Huskies and had a breakout year in 2022, leading the FBS in passing yards per game and set a school season record for total yards. The following year, he won the Maxwell Award and lead the FBS in passing yards en route to an appearance in the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship. He was selected by the Falcons eighth overall in the 2024 NFL draft.
