Nag Ashwin (born 23 April 1986)[1] is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works in Telugu cinema. He is the recipient of a National Film Award, a Nandi Award, and a Filmfare Award.

After working as an assistant director to Sekhar Kammula, Nag Ashwin made his directorial debut in 2015 with the coming-of-age philosophical drama film Yevade Subramanyam. The film garnered him the Nandi Award for Best Debut Director.

In 2018, he directed the biographical film Mahanati, starring Keerthy Suresh as yesteryear actress Savitri.[2] Mahanati received universal critical acclaim and became the highest-grossing South Indian film with a female lead. At the 66th National Film Awards, the film won three awards including the Best Feature Film in Telugu.[3][4] Ashwin also received the Filmfare Award for Best Director – Telugu for the film.[5]
