I have been reading the guestbooks of other users since around 2010. Most of the guestbooks were prominently active till 2012ish. The guestbooks still give me feeling of friendliness, community, and nostalgia. It made me feel Wikipedia less formal/mechanical. I hope the trend of guestbooks continues, but I believe WP:guestbooks are a privilege, and only the editors with long-term history should have them.
