10199 Chariklo je najveći poznati kentaur u Sunčevom sistemu. Kruži oko Sunca između Saturna i Urana, kruži oko Urana. Dana 26. marta 2014, astronomi su najavili otkriće dva prstena (nazvana Oyapock i Chuy po rijekama koje definišu granice Brazila)[22] oko Charikla promatranjem zvjezdane okultacije,[23][24] što ga čini prvom manjom planetom za koju je poznato da ima prstenje.[25][26]

Fotometrijska studija iz 2001. nije uspjela pronaći određeni period rotacije.[27] Infracrvena opažanja Charikla ukazuju na prisustvo leda,[28] koji se zapravo može nalaziti u njegovim prstenovima.[8]
