Reuters (/ˈrɔɪtərz/ ROY-terz) is a news agency owned by Thomson Reuters.[4][5] It employs around 2,500 journalists and 600 photojournalists in about 200 locations worldwide writing in 16 languages.[6] Reuters is one of the largest and most trusted news agencies in the world.[7][8][9]
The agency was established in London in 1851 by the German-born Paul Reuter. It was acquired by the Thomson Corporation of Canada in 2008 and now makes up the news media division of Thomson Reuters.[8]
