Shekhinah (Hebrew: שְׁכִינָה, Modern: Šəḵīna, Tiberian: Šeḵīnā)[1] is the English transliteration of a Hebrew word meaning "dwelling" or "settling" and denotes the presence of God in a place. This concept is found in Judaism from Talmudic literature.[2]
The word shekhinah is found in the Bible only in Shechaniah, a masculine proper name. The Hebrew root shakan appears in numerous conjugations; it can be found 128 times.
It also appears in the Mishnah, the Talmud, and Midrash.[3][4]

The term "shekhinah" ... was formulated in talmudic literature from the biblical verb designating the residence (shkn) of God in the temple in Jerusalem and among the Jewish people. "Shekhinah" is used in rabbinic literature as one of the many abstract titles or references to God.
