The Trans-Mississippi Department was a territorial department of the Confederate States Army that embraced Missouri and Arkansas, including the Indian Territory, Louisiana west of the Mississippi, and Texas.[1] It was the last department to surrender to Federal forces at the end of the American Civil War.
