The Democrats (Hebrew: הדמוקרטים) is a prospective centre-left and broadly progressive[2][non-primary source needed] political party in Israel, which would be a merger of the Israeli Labor Party and Meretz,[3] contingent on approval by each parties' conferences. Labor Party leader Yair Golan, a former Meretz MK who is the proposed leader of the party, has said that the party aims to be a "broad home for the liberal-democratic public in Israel".[4]
